Another successful ‘virtual’ club meeting with film premiere

Yes, the latest club meeting on Wednesday 20th May was held as another ‘virtual’ on-line meeting, with members joining together using the Zoom conferencing tool.

Members had no trouble logging in having experienced using Zoom at our previous meeting back in April. But this time was slightly different. Having tried the screen sharing function to watch films in the past, there was disappointment that the quality of the film was not particularly good. So it was decided that we should all watch the films directly ourselves on either YouTube or Vimeo, and this is exactly what we did. It was the premiere of Howard Johnson’s travel film with a difference. After a general discussion about what everybody had been up to during the last month, including an update on friends of the club, and the latest news from members, Howard described how his film came about. We then watched the film ‘El Chico’s Revenge’ on YouTube. Some members watched it on their computers; others on their TVs. Afterwards Howard explained how it was made and the challenges he faced. The meeting was wrapped up with an invitation to members to enter the forthcoming Holiday Competition at our next club meeting

It was a fun evening and everybody enjoyed the company and the experience, and it is hoped that more members will join in the next meeting on Wednesday 17th June.
