Mixed Bag Evening – ‘Watch’ then ‘Read’

The evening of Wednesday 20th November kicked off with a chance to see the latest Alan Cross production ‘A Place For Peace’, An Aerial Meditation for Tranquility, Sustainability and Well-being, which won the ‘Best Short Film for Wellbeing’ film category at the recent ‘Between the Blue & Green’ Film Festival 2024. This was followed by a another screening of Alan’s award winning film ‘Travel Companion’, which won Best film at the 2018 SERIAC Film Festival and 5-stars at BIAFF 2018. This gave us pause for thought before we book our next years holiday!

Next up we watched a selection of films from the latest Epson Movie Makers show reel, providing us an opportunity to see the standard of another clubs’ productions and giving us ideas for the future.

Following the tea break, a change of subject. We had some great fun reading 3 scripts. The first was an amusing comedy ‘The Janitor’ by Ray Coggin and was read by 4 members present. Then prospective new member Jason Purslip outlined 2 scripts he had written ‘The Bus Stop’ and ‘The Call’, with a view to consider them for possible filming.

We ended the evening talking about films that members were proposing to put forward for our January & February Competition evenings.
Please note there is no scheduled meeting in December other than the Xmas Dinner on December 11th at Tides Restaurant.
