5th February saw the main club competitions – the Ferring Cup and Hot Shorts.
A number of very good films were screened and the results pretty close. In the end the top prize the Ferring Cup itself went to Howard Johnson for his brilliant ‘The Land That Time Forgot’ shot at the International Sand Sculpture Festival in Pêra, Algarve, Portugal. If you haven’t seen it, make sure to ask Howard to re-screen it sometime!
Runners up were Irina Pitman with her travel film about ‘Porto’, (also in Portugal), and Mike Spanton with his ‘Worthing Portrait Artist of the Year’.
Howard also took away the 1-minute Hot Short trophy for his ‘Who is It’ shot during a club evening last year, with Bob Summers winning the 2-minute Hot Short for his ‘Tea Making in Sri Lanka’ a beautiful short showing the tea-making process right from the leaf picking to the finished cuppa!
