FANCY A ROLE?
Be part of the LIGHTING TEAM.
The lighting team are in charge of the vast array of lights & stands that can be used to help create atmosphere, shadows and help make the actors stand out from their background. They have to work with the camera team so that their lights are not seen in the framing of the shot.
Working together, the lighting team position lights where they feel the light output can be controlled and not cause incorrect exposure when filmed. Quite often one lighting set-up can be used for multiple shots taken from near enough the same camera position.
Some of the challenges faced by the lighting team is getting power to the lights (they don’t often run on batteries!) and making sure there is consistent lighting between camera set-ups so that when the film is edited together, there is not a noticeable change if everything is set in the one place.
