Members’ Films Night – Wed 16th November – including world premiere of ‘Tripwire’

The World Premiere of Tripwire, a film by Alan Cross, starring two young twin brothers, Tom and Sam Weager, was screened at Ferring Village Hall on 16 November.  The film depicts the antics of the two brothers, running and larking about on the beach and discovering what appears to be some sort of detonator.  The outcome is perhaps predictable but brilliantly portrayed with some incredible effects.  Alan was helped in the filming by Mike Spanton as location assistant and manning the boom microphone.  All agreed, this was an exceptionally well-made film.

After showing the film, and after a Q&A session with Alan, Mike, Tom and Sam, Alan gave a most interesting account of how it was made, illustrated by some great bonus clips showing his location research, storyboard, out-takes and a fascinating talk about the music composition.

Tripwire has been entered into the forthcoming Horsham Film Festival.

The second half of the evening was a variety of other members’ films, including three shorts made during the practical workshop evening in September.  It was interesting to see how all three had a different interpretation of the same subject.  Well done all.
