3 competitions have taken place and SDFM have achieved some success:
Surrey Border Inter-Club competition on Zoom on 2nd October. A number of film clubs from the south east entered films and the final result was extremely close – BUT WE WON! with our entry ‘Painting with Glass’. Our very close rival was a great film from Chichester Film & Video Makers titled ‘Zero Tolerance’ This was very good drama, and as you can appreciate comparing a drama with a documentary, is very difficult, but we just pipped it.
Someone once said that a “good” film is one you want to watch again and ‘A Special Relationship’ produced by Haywards Heath Movie Makers was such a film and deserved to be overall winner. This was a good but not too complicated plot, well scripted, with a nice “twist” near the ending. It also won the trophy for Best Editing. The Runners-Up Trophy and Syd Mitchell Trophy for the Best Comedy was won by South Downs Film Makers with ‘Did You?’, (see screenshot left), and the Trophy for the Best use of Sound was awarded to Surrey Borders with ‘Cards of Destiny’.
Sussex Film Festival 2020 – As you know the viewing of the festival entries had to be cancelled at the last minute. However all films were pre-judged in advanced and the winners were:
Best Movie / Best Drama – ‘A Special Relationship’ by Haywards Heath Movie Makers
Best Comedy – ‘Did You?’ by South Downs Film Makers
Commended – ‘Worthing Light Festival’ by South Downs Film Makers
